Square Enix is challenging players to guess what the actual title will be ahead of its eventual release. This will be carried out through a social media campaign where they want people to tweet their ideas before 28th January. After that date, the 10 people with the best guesses will ‘win big’. If that’s something that interests you at all, you can find all the information over on their official site.
At this point, that’s pretty much everything we know, there aren’t even any screenshots to speak of at the time of writing. Of course, we can assume it will revolve around Xehanort and the big tagline they’re going with is ‘Why did he become the seeker of darkness?’ So presumably, we’ll get the answer to that question.
But in terms of gameplay or even genre, there’s little to go on at the moment. There was a smattering of news for another mobile Kingdom Hearts game, however. The awkwardly titled Kingdom Hearts Union X[Cross] will be getting several new story updates and events throughout the year, with the next upcoming Disney World addition being Sugar Rush from Wreck-it Ralph.
That particular game is available now on both iOS and Android, featuring cutesy versions of the various characters across Kingdom Hearts and the numerous Disney folks you can encounter. Guessing by the solemn image of Xehanort we have at the moment, I imagine their upcoming game will have a more serious-looking art style than Union X[Cross].
Project Xehanort or whatever it turns out to be called will be available sometime in the Spring on the App Store and Google Play. It’ll be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
