This month’s Community Day will take place on March 15th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in the northern hemisphere, whilst it’ll run from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the southern. In both cases, this will local time wherever you live.
During this time Abra will show up more frequently in both the wild and raids with an increased chance of finding a shiny variant. The rest of the evolution line will get involved too, so if you evolve a Kadabra during the event or within two hours of it finishing it will turn into an Alakazam with an exclusive move it can’t otherwise learn.
There will also be a Community Day Special Research story that can be purchased for a dollar or your regional equivalent. Completing this quest will net players 13,000 Stardust, a Poffin, a Rocket Radar and more. Finally, Lure Modules will last three hours and each catch will net you three times the usual amount of XP.
Outside of the Community Day, a few changes have been made to Team GO Rocket’s legion of Shadow Pokemon to make them stronger. For instance, they are now capable of dishing out more damage with their Fast and Charged attacks, at the cost of taking more damage when hit.
Players will also be able to power up Shadow Pokemon and teach them an additional Charged Attack for less Stardust and Candy. Meanwhile, Legendary Shadow Pokemon you save from Giovanni will be more powerful than before.
Niantic has also teased that you’ll be able to replace the Charged Attack Frustration in future through learning a different Charged move via TM. However, they don’t have a specific date for when players will be able to do this.
Pokemon Go is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It’s a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
