The video games industry is vast and wide, stretching to the boundaries of what feels like an ever-shrinking world. Yet even though technology and games – including many, many massive games from Asian developers – have brought us closer together over these most recent years, the Chinese Lunar Year has been a core part of the world’s history for much, much longer.
I’m not a young man (born a couple of Year of the Tiger’s back), but I still remember the school lessons where we learned about the Chinese Zodiac, and this year my eldest son has been doing the same. It’s a celebration and period in time which is known about, if not celebrated, world-wide.
2020 brings about a new cycle of the 12-part zodiac, returning to the winner of the race: The Rat. What will the year of the Rat bring for developers? The Rat is said to be clever, quick thinking and successful – but however you see your stars and fates falling, it is set to be another ground-breaking year in the games industry.
For now, though, let’s all enjoy the festivities, and look forward to a great year.
